Boston Red Sox Hall of Famer Jimmy Piersall passed away Sunday morning. He spent nearly a decade entertaining the fans with his athletic ability and engaging personality. On June 10, 1953, he broke the team’s record for most hits in a 9 inning game, with 6 hits in total.
Piersall even got into a several fist fights on the baseball diamond, which eventually led to him being demoted to the minor leagues for a short while. He had a rowdy personality way before rowdy was cool, to quote Roddy Piper. He even wore a Beatles wig one time as he stepped up for bat. And you can bet your ass he played air guitar with that bat.
