The Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers will meet in the NBA Finals for the third straight season. After a long regular season and a dominant postseason for each team, the two will meet for a highly anticipated series. The Warriors are undefeated so far in the postseason and have only lost one game since Klay Thompson signed a toaster at the beginning of March. The Cavaliers have only lost one game this postseason and are playing with more intensity than at the end of the regular season.
These two teams and fans of the NBA have been preparing for this series ever since Kevin Durant signed with the Warriors last summer. The team that was up 3-1 in the 2016 finals just added one of the top five players in the world. The Warriors continue to be a juggernaut and have at least 65 wins in each of the last three years. Four of their five starters made the All-Star team, and they are poised to put and end to the memes and disappointment from last year.
The Cleveland Cavaliers will try to repeat as champions after their comeback last year and only championship in team history. They continue to be led by a big three of LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, and will need consistently excellent production from all three to compete in the series. Believeland and King James do not have much left to prove
The Finals will air on ABC with Mike Breen, Jeff Van Gundy, Mark Jackson and Doris Burke on the call for their eighth finals together. ESPN will be filming on location for the finals as well. Keep an eye out for COED’s NBA Finals preview, coming out soon!
