The First Official Trailer For ‘The Dark Tower’ Is Finally Here

After years of casting rumors, production problems, delays, and rescheduled release dates, The Dark Tower is finally on its way, and its first official trailer is finally here.

The first trailer for Stephen King’s seminal work lays out the plot for those who aren’t familiar with the source material. Fans are introduced to another world, a tower, the Man in Black, and the Gunslinger.

The Gunslinger, Roland Deschand (Idris Elba) is a knight from the other world who is trying to stop The Man in Black (Mathew McConaughey) from destroying the Dark Tower. Should the Man in Black succeed in destroying the Dark Tower, it would unleash hell onto both worlds.

Pretty straightforward stuff, but we aren’t in it for the plot, are we? No, we’re in it for two of the best actors in the game kicking the shit out of each other in a fantasy world.

Here’s the first official synopsis for The Dark Tower:

There are other worlds than these. Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, the ambitious and expansive story from one of the world’s most celebrated authors, makes its launch to the big screen. The last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim, also known as the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey), determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. With the fate of the worlds at stake, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black.

Based on the first trailer, you can color me hyped.

The Dark Tower will hit theaters on August 4, 2017.
