This Western Conference semi-finals match-up will not cross state lines, as the San Antonio Spurs will be battling the Houston Rockets. Bragging rights will be up for grabs when these two meet, starting tonight. Oh, and a potential trip to the conference finals, too.
The Spurs and Rockets are already rivals and the series features two of the best teams in the conference. Houston and San Antonio met a total of four times in the regular season, with almost each game seemingly coming down to the wire. I’d expect nothing less for this series.
The Rockets are led by MVP candidate James Harden, who just showed his former teammate, Russell Westbrook, and the Oklahoma City Thunder what it takes to advance in the playoffs. The Spurs and Kawhi Leonard are coming off a gritty 4-2 series win over the Memphis Grizzlies that wasn’t as easy as initially thought.
Leonard was also proving why he has been in the mix of the MVP race, and watching him match-up against Harden will be quite entertaining. These two teams play completely different styles of basketball with Houston’s fast pace and raining three-point shooting ability pitted against a strong defensive squad in San Antonio that gets it done on each side of the court. San Antonio and Houston have met in the playoffs three times previously, with the Rockets winning each time.
With Game 1 of the series set to tip-off tonight, below are all the ways to catch the Spurs and Rockets in action.
