The one-seed Boston Celtics are set to kick off a best-of-seven series against the four-seed Washington Wizards. This should be one of the most competitive second round matchups, as these teams are pretty damn even. In the regular season, Boston and Washington split their four meetings, with each team winning their two home games.
The Celtics looked to be in major trouble in their first round series against the eight-seed Chicago Bulls after losing their first two games at home to fall down 0-2. But they rallied back to win four straight games, beating the Bulls by an average margin of 14.75 points to send Chicago packing in six. Isaiah Thomas lead the way for Boston, as he averaged 23.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.0 steals in the series.
Washington didn’t have to face the same adversity that Boston went through in the first round, but they still found themselves in a fiercely competitive series. The Wizards beat the five-seed Atlanta Hawks 4-2, carried by an unreal series from John Wall. The four-time All-Star scored 42 points in the Game 6 clincher, and he posted jaw-dropping averages of 29.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 10.3 assists, and 1.7 steals per game.
