Now up 3-2 in the series, the Washington Wizards will aim to advance to the second round against the Atlanta Hawks tonight at Philips Arena. So far, home court advantage has been the decider in the series, as neither team has won on the road yet.
The Hawks are hoping to replicate their performances from the previous two games in Atlanta to be able to send this series to a Game 7. The Wizards would clearly like to put the Hawks away now rather than be forced to travel back home for another game.
The Game 5 victory did not come easy for Washington, though. The Hawks took it down to the wire before falling 103-99. A major issue for Atlanta has been slowing down Washington’s frontcourt. They managed to hold John Wall down to 20 points, his lowest thus far in the series. Bradley Beal has been the catalyst with 59 points combined over the last two games.
For the Hawks to extend the series, they’ll need more production from Dwight Howard in the fourth quarter where he hasn’t done much at all. A well-balanced offense will also be needed to keep hope alive in Atlanta with the series nearing the end.
