Dale Earnhardt Jr. has racked up quite the career on the race track, but it seems his times of competition are coming to an end. The son of legendary driver Dale Earnhardt Sr. seems to be ready to move on to other things as Earnhardt Jr. announced his retirement from professional racing. Don’t be too alarmed NASCAR fans, as the driver did say he would retire after the 2017 racing season, so you still have plenty of time to watch him in action.
This retirement will mark three straight years of legendary NASCAR racers retiring, with Jeff Gordon in 2015, Tony Stewart in 2016, and now Earnhardt Jr. in 2017. Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be able to enjoy his retirement with all the wealth he has been able to gain during his NASCAR tenure. Let’s check and see how much this driver’s net worth is…
Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Net Worth as of 2019: $315 Million.
So how did Dale Earnhardt Jr. rack up this much wealth? Let’s take a look at his career so far.
2000 – 2004

Earnhardt Jr. broke out onto the scene back in 2000, with a big win in the all-star exhibition race. He also outshined fellow rookie Matt Kenseth for the NASCAR rookie award, which he won. Earnhardt was also able to race against his legendary father Dale Earnhardt Sr. in the Pepsi 400. However, tragedy struck the Earnhardt family and in 2001, Dale Sr. was killed in the Daytona 500. Earnhardt Jr. was also competing for in the race and finished in second. His father’s death had an effect on him, as Earnhardt had many failed races after. It wasn’t until that year’s Pepsi 400 that Earnhardt made a season comeback. After that, he seemed to prove the theory of “like father like son,” and Earnhardt went on to win the 2004 Daytona 500.
2004 – 2008

A nasty accident that left him with third-degree burns prevented him from racing for some part of the season. Earnhardt was able to win five Nextel cups that season but was not able to win a sixth due to a string of DNFs (did not finish) and was docked points for using offensive language on a national broadcast. The years following, it seemed like Earnhardt hit a rut, as he was not able to recapture the victories he had had the previous season. Yet, his following and fandom still seemed to stay true with this driver, as even with lackluster finishes year after year, he still won the NMPA Check most popular driver for five straight years.
2008 – 2012

Earnhardt decided to start anew and left his father’s company DEI, due to both not having majority control of the company and how the cars provided by the company always broke down. Earnhardt started a deal Hendrick Motorsports so that he could get the crew, car, and parts to start winning again. While he was able to win some minor events in the 2008 season, Earnhardt failed to win that year’s Daytona, coming in ninth. The season would not yield better results than the previous years, as Earnhardt failed to win any events. It was not until the 2011 season that Earnhardt started to shine once again. He was able to have many top ten finishes that season and was able to qualify for the Sprint cup. Though he was not able to win the cup, it proved to be a better season for the drive.
2012 – 2016

In the 2012 Daytona 500, Earnhardt was able to finish second. He was able to pull a win in the 2012 Quicken Loans 400, which was his first one since 2008. However crashes and car failure seemed to plagued Earnhardt for the rest of the season, as he was not able to find success. A concussion in that season also marked the first time since he started his career in 2000 that he missed a race. Earnhardt was able to win the Daytona 500 in 2014, which was the only winning success that Earnhardt would have in the following years, but he still remained a fan-favorite. In 2015, he won the most popular driver award for the thirteenth consecutive year.
2016 – 2017

Earnhardt was able to win the 2016 Xfinity race in Richmond, coming in second in the heat race and winning the main event. Yet, the concussion that he got back in 2012 seemed to flair back up again due to crashes during the season. Earnhardt was sidelined for the remainder of the racing season. In 2017, he was able to place second in the seeding for the Daytona 500, but due to crashes and collisions, finished the race in thirteenth place. 2017 also brings the end of Dale Earnhardt’s career, when he will finish out the season and then retire. Don’t feel too bad for the driver as he has a nice retirement fund to sit on and career venture to continue on with. He also recently got married to his longtime girlfriend Amy Reinmann, so Earnhardt has a lot of things to look forward to after this season.
