Riana Lane turned herself in to police on Sunday and was arrested for allegedly having sex and oral sex with a 17-year-old student at the high school she taught at, according to Benicia Police Department.
Lane is a special education and English teacher at Benicia High School in California and was previously arrested when marijuana edibles and stolen property were found in her vehicle on school grounds on April 7. Police initially were only trying to find a 17-year-old student who repeatedly went missing during school hours. They found him going to Lane’s car, which led to the arrest of both.
Investigators soon learned that Lane and the student had allegedly been engaging in an inappropriate relationship.
The unidentified minor took responsibility for the stolen items, which were reported stolen from cars from on March 23 and March 28, The Times-Herald reported. The male student admitted to police that he had stolen the goods and stashed them in Lane’s car, according to ABC 7. He was arrested for petty theft and then released to a parent.
Lane’s bale is set at $10,000 and she has been charged with one felony count of oral copulation with a minor and one felony count of statutory rape.
