The New York Mets (1-0) will be taking on their NL East rivals, the Miami Marlins (0-1), in the first meeting of the season. With another strong pitching rotation, the Mets are looking to start the season hot, while the Marlins are aiming to pick up their first win of the year.
Zack Wheeler will be making his first start and opposing him on the mound will be lefty Wei-Yin Chen for Miami. Wheeler is coming off a great spring performance to earn his spot in the Mets’ rotation. The Mets hope Wheeler performs just as well with the injury to right-hander Seth Lugo, who has a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his pitching arm.
The Marlins come into this season optimistic and hoping to turn things around from years past. The loss of Jose Fernandez was devastating to the whole nation, and Miami looks to the addition of Edinson Volquez to assist the pitching rotation.
