Kendall Lucas, a 25-year-old softball coach, has been charged after reportedly having up to ten sexual encounters with a 17-year-old student.
Lucas, 25, allegedly had sex with a female student between March and May of 2016 while she was the head coach of the Taylor High School softball team in Austin, Texas.
Lucas faces up to 20 years in prison after being charged with an improper relationship between an educator and a student. The investigation was launched after the unidentified teenager confided in friends who then tipped off school officials.
According to the CBS report, Lucas turned herself in to confess after the school found out about the relationship.
Investigators say on Wednesday, school officials learned of a possible improper relationship between Lucas and a student and reported it to police. Taylor Police say their detectives discovered Lucas and the student had a sexual relationship from March of 2016 to May of 2016.
Taylor Police say Lucas confessed to detectives to having a sexual relationship with a female student who was on the varsity softball team. If convicted, Lucas faces up to 20 years in prison.
The Taylor School District released the following statement:
The Taylor Independent School District has been made aware of a possible inappropriate situation involving a high school student and an adult employee. TISD administration responded immediately and an investigation involving the Taylor Police Department is in progress. The employee has been placed on administrative leave, and the district is cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities. Due to the ongoing police investigation into this matter, the district cannot comment further on this incident.
