Kevin Knox II is that athlete. Knox was once a high school football star, waiting to become the next big thing while schools clamored to get his attention. When your Dad makes it into the NFL, you have to expect to at least try following in his footsteps. Kevin Knox wasn’t a household name by any means, but his productive college career at Florida State did land him in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals. When his son hit high school, it looked like he was going to not only be able to play at the college level, but he’d be able to hand pick his place at any school in the country. Knox II started at quarterback for Tampa Catholic High School his sophomore year, passing for just under 1,000 yards with eight touchdowns. It was his height and natural athletic ability that made him look like the next stud you’d see dominating on Saturdays while you’re hungover on your couch watching football, but a six-inch growth spurt put him on the map for the hardwood.

Knox II played sparingly his freshman year, but that was before his growth spurt left him towering over opponents. While still maintaining the same athletic ability and court vision he had as a guard, Knox II has been able to have his way with anybody foolish enough to try guarding him. In his breakout sophomore year, he averaged 24.4 points and 10 rebounds, which put him on the map. He still has the pick of any school he wants, but now it’s for hoops. The five-star recruit is fresh off a senior season in which he averaged 28.9 points and 11.3 rebounds.

Even though he surprised everyone by becoming a basketball star rather than a football phenom, he’s not exactly a hidden treasure. Knox II was featured on the 2016 Under-17 United States Men’s Basketball team, where he helped his country bring home the gold medal twice in the Fiba U17 World Championship. The Tampa Catholic star also was named to the McDonald’s All-American East squad, where he racked up 15 points in just 19 minutes.

Knox II is officially on everyone’s radar and has everyone highly anxious to figure out where the top-ten prospect will fall. He’s one of the best recruits who has yet to commit, although he has narrowed his list down to Duke, Florida State, North Carolina, and Kentucky. He plans on breaking the news (and the hearts of the schools he doesn’t choose) sometime in April.
