FX’s The Americans continues its fifth season tonight with episode #4, “What’s the Matter with Kansas?”
Last week saw Philip and Elizabeth travel to Oklahoma to do a little more digging on America’s suspected attack on Russia’s wheat supply. While this is the first time The Americans has very clearly presented the U.S. as the bad guys, the unlucky lab director who met his end may still weigh on Philip’s conscience. Earlier in the episode he lamented how the Soviet Union has more land than America, yet still cannot feed their people. Elizabeth – always the patriotic of the two – brought him back around. But though the couple may be making headway on their investigation, their issues with Paige are continuing to grow.
