The non-profit organization Comic Relief Inc. runs Red Nose Day, a fundraiser based in the U.K. that has collected more than $1 billion for impoverished children over its 30-year-history.
Kicking off March 24 at 7:00 P.M. on BBC one, the event promises “one mammoth night of live comedy, sketches, music and much more,” including appearances from Ed Sheeran, Russell Brand and Emeli Sande.
One of this year’s big hooks is the mini sequel to the popular 2003 romantic comedy Love, Actually“Red Nose Day, Actually”. Director Richard Curtis, who created Red Nose Day back in 1988, has created a 10 minute short called featuring many of the original cast members such as Hugh Grant, Colin Firth and Andrew Lincoln.
The U.S. began its won version of Red Nose Day in 2015. This year’s American Red Nose Day will take place on May 25. To date, this event has raised north of $60 million while attracting big name stars such as Julia Roberts, Ellen DeGeneres, Will Ferrell and Kobe Bryant.
