I know I say this a lot, but Rutgers University, my alma mater, may actually be the most poorly run university in all the land.
Bad decision after bad decision, Rutgers regularly finds itself as a national punchline. Add ‘paying Snooki a $30,000 speaking fee’ to the list of dumb shit Rutgers has done over the years.
In fact, it was SO dumb, SO ill-advised, and SUCH a waste of money that even New Jersey legislators took notice and proposed a law to prevent this type of wastefulness from happening in the future.

The Democrat-controlled Assembly is scheduled to vote on the bill Thursday. If approved, it will go to Republican Gov. Chris Christie’s desk.
Republican Assemblyman John DiMaio says he was inspired to write the measure after Polizzi earned $32,000 to speak at Rutgers in 2011. That was $2,000 more than Nobel prize-winning author Toni Morrison was paid to speak at commencement.
The legislation would cap state spending on public university speakers at $10,000.
Rutgers University in a nutshell: awesome students, top-notch academics, gorgeous campuses… terrible decision makers, atrocious at sports, located in New Brunswick.
