Corrina Mehiel, a 34-year-old woman, was found tied up and stabbed to death inside of her Washington D.C. apartment after going missing for two days.
Mehiel, 34, was last seen at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in D.C. on Sunday, March 19, before her body was found in her apartment at about 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 21.
She was found dead in a basement apartment on the 600 block of 14th Street NE, near the H Street corridor.
Via NBC:

Acting Police Chief Peter Newsham said at a news conference that police found no signs of forced entry in the apartment where her body was found.
Mehiel was an artist and art teacher who was working at the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design. She was last seen at the school Sunday night. She talked with her father by phone that night, too, her stepmother said Wednesday.

Furthermore, Newsham revealed that Mehiel’s blue four-door 2004 Toyota Prius was missing. The car has a Kentucky license plate with the number 722RMY and a yellow, diamond-shaped bumper sticker about looking out for motorcycles on the rear bumper. Police are asking anyone who has seen this car to contact authorities.
Mehiel, from Burnsville, North Carolina, was living in Washington D.C. temporarily as she worked with the artist Mel Chin, specializing in art that engaged communities.
No information on a suspect or possible motive was released immediately. A $25,000 reward is being offered to anyone who can help track down whoever is responsible for the murder.
