Sigma Nu History

Sigma Nu was founded by James Frank Hopkins, Greenfield Quarles, and James McIlvaine Riley at the Virginia Military Institute on January 1, 1869. The fraternity grew rapidly, as their second chapter was formed at the University of Virginia in 1870. In 1883, Sigma Nu created their own magazine and the first issue of The Delta was published in April.
Sigma Nu’s first National Convention took place at the Maxwell House Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee from July 9 – July 10, 1884. Since then, a National Convention is held every two years.
As for their current philanthropic efforts, they have the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation. Via their website, here is the foundation’s mission statement: “The Sigma Nu Educational Foundation secures and provides enduring resources to support the educational and charitable initiatives of Sigma Nu Fraternity.”

Sigma Nu Party Videos

When they’re not raising money for their foundation, Sigma Nu likes to kick back and have a good time. Check out these sick party videos from their Ole Miss and USC chapters.
