As college basketball fans gear up for this year’s March Madness, we’ll take a glimpse into the past at last year’s intense series. The very best in college basketball competed for that top spot in the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament. Out of 336 eligible teams, only 68 were accepted to partake in four weeks of madness.
From March 15 to April 4, the cream of the crop from college sports shined on the basketball court. But out of those 68 teams, who shined the most? Who walked home as the winners of March Madness?

Villanova was an absolute beast in last year’s March Madness tournament. The Wildcats ran roughshod through the South Regional brackets, eliminating UNC Asheville, Iowa, Miami and Kansas from the competition. This team from Philly kicked ass all the way through to the Final Four.
The boys from Villanova entered the Final Four like a great ball of fire. They smashed through Oklahoma, with a record-setting score of 95-51. Their win over the Sooners became the most one-sided victory in the history of the men’s Final Four. Ouch! That’s gotta sting all the way to Oklahoma.
On April 4, Villanova defeated North Carolina in a very close game to conclude March Madness. The Wildcats barely came out on top against the Tar Heels, ending the series with a score of 77-74.

Villanova was unquestionably the alpha team of last year’s tournament. Their boy Ryan Arcidiacono was named “Most Outstanding Player” for his role in driving the Wildcats to victory. Hats off to every member of the Wildcats, from the coach to the players to even the cheerleaders.
Who will win March Madness 2017? You’ll just have to wait and see.
