The Seattle Seahawks have been extraordinary tonight, and they’re currently nearing a blowout win over Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers. But it’s not all good news for Seahawks fans, as they lost Earl Thomas- the pre-eminent free safety in the NFL- to a brutal leg injury in the second quarter.

Thomas had Seahawks fans fearing the worst when the five-time Pro Bowler sent out the following tweet shortly after exiting the field:

It was revealed soon after that the injury he suffered was a tibia injury. If Thomas gets the necessary surgery and goes through the rehab process there is a good chance he’d be ready for next season. That is, unless the 27-year-old actually decides to hang up his cleats.
