Washington DC Metro Transit Police officer Nicholas E. Young, of Fairfax, is accused of trying to help ISIS, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia confirmed Wednesday morning. Allegedly Nicholas purchased nearly $250 in mobile based gift cards to send to the terrorist organization to help them communicate. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
According to NBC, Young will appear in federal court Wednesday afternoon. It’s the first case where a terrorism charge has ever been brought against a US law enforcement officer.
