Victor Barrio is the 29-year-old Spanish bullfighter who was gored to death over the weekend. Victor was participating in a bullfight run by the village of Teruel when his thigh was first gored, sending him to the ground. Subsequently the bull, named Lorenzo, pierced Victor’s chest–close to his heart. He was taken to the local hospital, although he died nearly an hour later.
The attack was aired on live TV.
Victor had worked as a bullfighter for six years before he was killed. Following Victor’s death, Lorenzo the bull’s mother will be sent to the slaughterhouse, while Lorenzo will retire and be sent out to stud.
