No other nation would even think to celebrate its birthday with an annual hot dog eating contest, which just shows why America is the greatest country on Earth.
Last year was a rough one for Joey Chestnut as his fiance called off their wedding and he was upended for the coveted Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Yellow Mustard Belt by young upstart Matthew Stonie.
This year Joey Chestnut came back stronger than ever, setting a Coney Island record by downing 70 hot dogs to avenge his loss to Stonie. Everyone loves a great comeback story, and Joey Chestnut delivered en route to his ninth title in the competition. The man is the G.O.A.T. of competitive eating and a true American hero. Happy July 4th everyone!
