Discovery Channel’s Shark Week is back this Sunday and we can’t wait to dive in. 17 new films and specials will be shown over the course of the week at night. You can also watch programs from past Shark Weeks during all off times on Discovery Channel and Discovery.com. And if you really can’t get enough of the vicious underwater beasts, you can check out Discovery Channel’s 24-7 Live Reef Shark Cam from the National Aquarium in Baltimore.
Below is the full lineup with brief descriptions of all the new programming that Discovery Channel will be showing.
Sunday, June 26
8 – 9 p.m. EST — Tiger Beach
We’ll meet Dr. Neil Hammerschlag is the world’s leading tiger shark expert, who explores the mating process of those fish.
9 – 10 p.m. EST — Return of the Monster Mako
A group of scientists try to document a live-predation of a thousand-pound mako shark.
10 – 11 p.m. EST — Isle of Jaws
Shark cinematographer Andy Casagrande gets up close and personal with a dozen great white sharks. Viewers will be able to immerse themselves into the adventure with virtual reality by using the DiscoveryVR app.
Monday, June 27
8 – 9 p.m. EST — Shallow Water Invasion
Using a self-propelled shark cage called “The Explorer”, marine biologists Mauricio Hoyos and Grant Johnson investigate a recent discovery at Guadalupe Island – great whites moving into shallow waters at night.
9 – 10 p.m. EST — Jaws of the Deep
Marine biologist Greg Skomal and the REMUS SharkCam team return to Guadalupe to find the world’s largest great white shark, Deep Blue using two robot submarines.
10 – 11 p.m. EST — Sharks Among Us
Dr. Craig O’Connell believes he has developed a system that can prevent shark attacks without killing the sharks.
Tuesday, June 28
9 – 10 p.m. EST — Wrath of a Great White Serial Killer
Shark experts Ralph Collier and Brandon McMillian try to understand why great white sharks have recently taken residence in the waters of the Pacific Northwest.
10 – 11 p.m. EST — Air Jaws Night Stalker
Narrated by Lena Headey (“Game of Thrones“), a group of scientists embark on an adventure following great white sharks to find out how they can hunt in total darkness.
Wednesday, June 29
9 – 10 p.m. EST — Deadliest Sharks
Using cutting-edge research and thrilling historical evidence, Dr. Michael Domeier and Dr. Barry Bruce go looking in the Bahamas and off Hawaii for rare oceanic white tip sharks, to see if the species deserve the reputation as the “World’s Deadliest Shark.”
10 – 11 p.m. EST — Shark vs. Dolphins: Face Off
Scientists try to understand the hostile relationship between sharks and dolphins.
Thursday, June 30
9 – 10 p.m. EST — Nuclear Sharks
Philippe Cousteau and his wife Ashlan Gorse Cousteau travel with marine biologist Luke Tipple to Bikini Atoll to explore a marine environment once destroyed by nuclear testing during the Cold War.
10 – 11 p.m. EST — Jungle Sharks
Marine biologist Dr. Craig O’Connell and Andy Casagrande travel up the Serena River in the rainforests of Costa Rica to try and find out why young bull sharks swim up the river, and how they avoid the 12-14′ American crocodiles living there.
Friday, July 1
9 – 10 p.m. EST — Shark Bait
Dr. Greg Skomal and his team wonder why great white sharks hunt seals differently in Cape Cod than in the rest of the world.
10 – 11 p.m. EST — Blue Serengeti
With breakthrough camera technology and tracking technology, marine biologist and shark expert Barbara Block is giving scientists and viewers a portrait of a formerly unseen domain that she calls the Blue Serengeti.
Saturday, June 2
9 – 10 p.m. EST — Sharksanity 3
The best of Shark Week 2016 plus the fan-voted greatest Shark Week moments of all-time.
Sunday, June 3
9 – 10 p.m. EST — The Killing Games
Dr. Jonathan Werry and shark cinematographer Andy Casagrande travel to a special location in South Australia to research a new great white hunting strategy, where they no longer wait for seals to enter the ocean – they come out of the water and snatch them from the shore!
A lot of awesome-sounding stuff in there. We’re in for a treat!
