A total of four people were injured, and one was killed, in a shoot at Jeremiah Burke High School in Dorchester on Wednesday afternoon.

The person who died was in his late teens. Two other victims were also in their late teens, he said, while an elderly woman was treated at the scene for a graze wound.
The shooting was reported in the area of 56 Washington Street shortly after 1 p.m., police said. An active search for the shooter is underway in the area. The Burke school and 3 other nearby schools were placed in lockdown mode after the incident, preventing students from leaving. The schools placed on lockdown are Dearborn STEM Academy, the Martin Luther King, Jr. K-8 School, and the Lilla G. Frederick Pilot Middle School.
