A couple months ago, these rap inspired jerseys from Patso Dmitrov made their rounds on the internet, and they predictable blew up. I mean, just look at these things. Straight fire emojis.
We got Drake’s Views, Chance The Rapper’s Acid Rap, Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange, Nas’ Illmatic, Future’s Purple Reign, and Freddie Gibbs and Madlib’s Piñata. See, told you, straight fire. The Drake Views jersey is available for pre-order today on Dmitrov’s website.
So, Dmitrov did what any intelligent, capitalistic person would do — he put them up for sale. In an interview with Complex, Dmitrov said:
“The demand for the jerseys was crazy. I received over 200 emails in less than 24 hours with people asking me how and where can they get one. At that time I had no plan to actually make them, but after seeing how much people wanted them, I decided to try and see what I can do to make it happen… It took me some time to get in contact with the right people, who backed me up 100 percent, but fortunately for me, I did and here we are today.”
Dmitrov, the creative director of Bread&Butter, said his original designs were much more detailed, but he had to strip them down as to not feature any exclusive logos that were owned by the artists.
While Dmitrov loves all of his work, he singles out one particular jersey as his favorite, Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange:
“The album obviously plays a role, because I truly love that album, but I think the simplicity of it is what puts it on top of my list,” he said. “I mostly wear plain T-shirts and clothes in general, and for me personally that is the one I would enjoy wearing the most. It’s purely based on my personal taste and what I would feel best about wearing myself.
You can purchase and preorder the jerseys on Dmitrov’s website here.
