Best PS4 Games: Top 5 Best New Games Coming Out In May 2016

Although there are five games on this list, there is really only one game PS4 players need to know about this month. That would be the long-anticipated, oft-delayed Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, which will almost definitely be the best exclusive yet for Sony’s console. While you’re biding your time for that must-buy, you can blow off steam with shooters Overwatch and Doom, MOBA Battleborn or the Fallout 4 mega-expansion, Far Harbor.
Here’s a look at the best PS4 games coming out in May:

5. Fallout 4: Far Harbor

Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
Developer: Bethesda Game Studios
Release date: TBA May

Expected to be the longest and deepest of the three scheduled add-ons for Bethesda’s open-world epic, the expansion adds in a new faction to the mix. The setting shifts to Maine’s Bar Harbor, where the story sends you on an adventure to break into a society of synths to rescue a missing girl. Hurled into the middle of conflict involving the Children of Atom, the synths and townsfolk, it’s your task to bring peace to the settlement, all while building up your own skills and powers. There is a ton of loot to seek out and collect, including new armor and weapons.

Top MOBAs such as League of Legends and Heroes of the Storm need to look out, because a new contender is on the horizon. Battleborn doles out 25 playable characters to arrange the ultimate killing platoon. Campaign mode lets you sample traditional solo play or throw down with four other players. There are three main modes — Meltdown, Arena and Incursion — that test your thinking and abilities. One exciting gimmick lets you toggle between first and third person modes to get a better look at your special abilities hammer the enemy.

3. Doom

Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
Developer: id Software
Release date: May 13

The series that forced first-person shooters into social consciousness now looks to reinvent the genre. Don’t expect your Daddy’s Doom. While old favotites such as the BFG 9000 shotgun are back to help you splatter Revenants, Mancubuses and Cyberdemons, the missions, multiplayer and especially the visuals are all fresh takes. The campaign is billed as 13 hours of chaos, and multiplayer looks to match and surpass the pace of the likes of Call of Duty.

2. Overwatch

Publisher: Blizzard Entertainment
Developer: Blizzard Entertainment
Release date: May 24

It will be fun to see what Blizzard, the visionary studio behind World of Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo, manages to do when it takes on the FPS genre. Teamwork is the name of the new game,  forcing you to build up a rapport and strategy with your squadmates to survive in several game modes on the offing, including Assault, tactics-heavy Escort or king of the hill-style Control. Blizzard doesn’t release games often, but when it does they are almost always mind-blowing.

1. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment
Developer: Naughty Dog
Release date: May 10

Naughty Dog, which dazzled audiences with The Last of Us, is by far Sony’s most reliable in-house developer, and the studio looks to have another rainmaker on its hands with this one, supposedly the last entry in the treasure-hunting, cliff-scaling, train car-hopping series that began on the PS3. Affable rogue Nathan Drake comes out of retirement at the request of his long-lost brother, heading off on one last globe-trotting journey. The main draw here is the cinematic-style campaign, but the multiplayer from past games also comes back, revamped and ready to keep you playing late into the night.
