The 6th season of the fantasy drama television series Game Of Thrones premieres Sunday, April 24, 2016, at 9 PM EST. Unlike previous seasons, season 6 largely consists of original content not found in George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series. It premiered in 2011, and is scheduled to run through 2018. Game Of Thrones is set in a fictional world, focusing on the continents of Westeros and Essos, and tells the story of all of the major houses vying for the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms.
