Marlins Park in Miami saw one of the oddest conclusions of a bowl game last season. This year’s Miami Beach Bowl on December 21 hopefully won’t have the same hostility at the end of it when the 11-2 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers face the 8-4 South Florida Bulls. The two schools don’t hate each other like last year’s teams did in this same game so emotions should be okay inside the baseball stadium.
Western Kentucky has won five straight games and is averaging over 519 yards per game along with over 44 points per contest. Brandon Doughty has thrown for 4,594 yards, 45 touchdowns and seven interceptions during an insane season at quarterback. Taywan Taylor has 79 catches for 1,363 yards and 17 touchdowns in the receiving game while Anthony Wales has 986 yards rushing and seven touchdowns on the ground. The Hilltoppers have been a menace on opposing defenses all season long and this game doesn’t look it will be much different.
South Florida has won four straight games coming into this one and average 33.5 points per game on 428.7 total yards. Quentin Flowers has thrown for 2,023 yards, 21 touchdowns and eight interceptions for the Bulls this year. Rodney Adams is leading the team in receiving yards with 692 on 39 catches with eight touchdowns. Marlon Mack has been a dominant figure on the ground for South Florida with 1,273 rushing yards and eight touchdowns for the season. Can the Bulls’ defense do enough to slow down the Hilltoppers?
