There are some matchups that are worth sitting down and making sure they get watched during this year’s bowl season. The Boca Raton Bowl on December 22 is a prime example of a game that warrants attention from all college fans as the 10-3 Temple Owls face the 9-2 Toledo Rockets at FAU Football Stadium. It is two teams that won the division in their conferences and want some redemption for late failures.
Temple lost the American Athletic Conference title game 24-13 to Houston, missing their chance at a New Year’s Six game. P.J. Walker has thrown for 2,737 yards, 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions for the Owls this season while looking the way of Robby Anderson quite a bit with 64 catches for 873 yards and seven touchdowns. Jahad Thomas has 1,257 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns on the year to pace a talented Temple offense that will be tested to keep up with the Rockets.
Toledo lost to Western Michigan 35-30 to end their regular season, losing their chance at the MAC title game. Phillip Ely passed for 2,680 yards, 21 touchdowns and ten interceptions during the regular season and hit many huge plays with Cody Thompson. Thompson has 33 catches for 706 yards and four touchdowns for the year. Kareem Hunt rushed for 894 yards and ten touchdowns as the Rockets averaged 35.3 points and 463.3 yards per game during the regular season. This has all the makings of a very high-scoring game in Boca Raton.
