A bus packed with Virginia college students overturned late Sunday night, leaving dozens of students injured.

Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller told The Associated Press that there were zero fatalities, but one person was seriously injured and an additional 35 were left with minor injuries.

The bus overturned on an exit ramp of the Powhite Parkway in North Chesterfield County just south of Richmond and the photos are pretty horrific.

According to state police, the driver lost control on a curve, but the cause of the crash is still being investigated. A total of 50 passengers were onboard, the majority of which were students from University of Virginia, Virginia Tech and Radford University picked up in Richmond.

The police statement also identified the driver as Thomas B. Chidester, 58, of Salem. He was reportedly charged with reckless driving.
