Conrad Ukropina hits a 45-yard field goal as time expires and the Cardinal end any hopes that the Irish had of making the college football playoff. A game for the ages. Kevin Hogan goes 17-for-21 passing for 269 yards and four touchdowns while Christian McCaffrey had 94 yards rushing on 27 carries. Devon Cajuste finishes with five catches for 125 yards for Stanford, who improves to 10-2. DeShone Kizer goes 13-for-25 passing for 234 yards and a touchdown while rushing 16 times for 128 yards and another score. Josh Adams finishes the night with 168 rushing yards on 18 carries for Notre Dame, who falls to 10-2 for the season. Will Fuller had six catches for 136 yards as well for the Irish.

4th Quarter- :10 left: Hogan finds Devon Cajuste on a 27-yard pass and the Cardinal are at the Notre Dame 30.

4th Quarter- Notre Dame 36, Stanford 35: DeShone Kizer takes it in from two yards out with 30 seconds left to give the Fighting Irish the lead. Kizer has thrown for 234 yards and rushed for 127 yards more.

3rd Quarter- Notre Dame 29, Stanford 28: The scoring fest continues as Josh Adams goes 62 yards on the ground to give the Irish the lead with 5:24 left in the third. Adams has 11 carries for 140 yards for the game. Notre Dame can’t get the two-point conversion though and it is a one-point game.

3rd Quarter- 6:23 left: DeShone Kizer has accounted for nearly 300 yards of offense for Notre Dame including 108 yards rushing from the quarterback position.

3rd Quarter- Stanford 28, Notre Dame 23: Remound Wright pounds it in from one yard out and the Cardinal retake the lead with 6:58 to play in the quarter as this back-and-forth game rolls on.

3rd Quarter- 9:08 left: The Cardinal are looking to respond and have driven to the Notre Dame 10-yard line.

3rd Quarter- Notre Dame 23, Stanford 21: Justin Yoon makes his third field goal of the night with a 29-yard kick and the Irish has taken the lead back with 11:03 to play in the quarter.

3rd Quarter- 11:21 left: Notre Dame has come out on all cylinders in the second half and are deep in Stanford territory on their first possession.

Halftime: Stanford 21, Notre Dame 20

Just as it looked like Notre Dame would take the lead again, Kizer fumbles deep in Stanford territory and it remains a one-point lead for the Cardinal after 30 minutes of play. Kevin Hogan is 12-for-15 passing for 180 yards and three touchdowns. Christian McCaffrey has 15 carries for 55 yards for Stanford. DeShone Kizer was 5-for-8 passing for 133 yards and a touchdown and added 84 yards on the ground over seven carries. Will Fuller has four catches for 113 yards for the Irish.

2nd Quarter- Will Notre Dame now try to score before the break or will they be happy just going into the locker room?

2nd Quarter- Stanford 21, Notre Dame 20: Hogan’s third touchdown pass of the half gives the Cardinal the lead back as he finds Michael Rector for a 14-yard score and with 48 seconds to go before the break, the lead changes hands again.

2nd Quarter- Notre Dame 20, Stanford 14: Will Fuller makes sure the Irish get the lead this time around with a 73-yard touchdown catch from DeShone Kizer with 2:15 to play in the half. Kizer is now 5-for-7 passing for 133 yards.

2nd Quarter- 3:22 left: The high-powered Stanford offense that went down the field on their first two possessions can’t get a first down this time around and the Irish will have another chance to take the lead before halftime.

2nd Quarter- Stanford 14, Notre Dame 13: The Irish march down the field again but once again, they are forced to accept a Yoon field goal. This Yoon kick from 25 yards out makes it a one-point game with 5:02 left before halftime.

2nd Quarter- 9:21 left: Notre Dame finally stops Stanford and gets the ball with a chance to take the lead.

2nd Quarter- 10:57 left: Stanford gets the ball back and is once again going down the field on the Fighting Irish defense in a shocking, effective manner.

2nd Quarter- Stanford 14, Notre Dame 10: Justin Yoon hits a 26-yard field goal to pull the Irish closer with 12:26 to play in the first half after Notre Dame put together a great opening offensive possession.

End of 1st Quarter: A wild, high-scoring quarter as Notre Dame is marching down the field again. Hogan is 7-for-9 for 90 yards and two touchdowns for Stanford so far. Christian McCaffrey has 41 yards rushing on 11 carries. DeShone Kizer has completed both of his pass attempts to Will Fuller for 29 yards while Josh Adams has 27 rushing yards on three carries.

1st Quarter- Stanford 14, Notre Dame 7: Another score for the Cardinal before Notre Dame runs a single offensive play as Hogan throws his second touchdown pass of the game, this time to Devon Cajuste from six yards out with 1:54 to play in the opening quarter.

1st Quarter- 7:26 left: Stanford is marching down the field yet again after the Notre Dame score.

1st Quarter- Notre Dame 7, Stanford 7: C.J. Sanders returns the ensuing kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown and just like that, the Fighting Irish has tied the game back up just 11 seconds after the Cardinal had scored.

Saturday night will bring a huge matchup for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as they attempt to stay in the national championship race on the road against the Stanford Cardinal. Notre Dame is likely going to need some help to make the playoff and plays a very talented Stanford team in this one. Perfect weather is expected for the kickoff at just after 7:30 p.m. Eastern/4:30 p.m. Pacific.
