The Ole Miss Rebels knew that they were going to have a battle on their hands hitting the road to face the Auburn Tigers. The 19th-ranked Rebels struggled pulling away from the Tigers but a fourth-quarter touchdown pass from Chad Kelly to Laquon Treadwell finally gave Ole Miss the breathing room they needed during a 27-19 Southeastern Conference win to move to 7-2 for the season and 4-1 in the conference. With the score 20-19 after Daniel Carlson kicked his third and fourth field goal of the day for Auburn and 10:13 to play, Kelly found Treadwell from 21 yards out to put Treadwell over the 100-yard mark receiving for the game. Treadwell finished with 114 receiving yards on seven catches to go with the touchdown reception. Kelly was 33-for-51 for 381 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
The two teams traded field goals and touchdowns for the first 43 minutes of the game before Kelly found Derrick Jones for a 45-yard touchdown pass with 1:54 left in the third quarter to break a 13-all tie. Auburn quarterback Sean White didn’t complete many passes, going just 11-for-27 but threw for 244 yards and a touchdown. Ricardo Louis had four catches for 137 yards and a touchdown for the Tigers as White’s favorite receiver.
Ole Miss goes home for their next two games including a visit from Arkansas next Saturday afternoon. Auburn hits the road with their two-game losing streak and will visit Texas A&M.
