Rogue Ales' Rogue Farms Pumpkin Patch Ale is What's on Tap

Alright you basic chicks and dudes of the craft beer world, it is October and that means you officially have my approval to drink pumpkin brews! But if you must drink a pumpkin brew please make sure the beer you are drinking is one that is actually made with real pumpkins and not artificial flavors. This weekend I am drinking one of my favorite pumpkin beers on the market; this weekend Rogue Ales’ Rogue Farms Pumpkin Patch Ale is What’s on Tap!
Along with all the reasons people typically like pumpkin beers, the aromas, taste, fall, etc. what I like best about this great brew from Rogue is all of the hops, malts, and pumpkins that are used are from Rogue’s own farms. This is also the reason and where Rogue’s Pumpkin Ale departs from all of the other pumpkin beers that are currently being produced. The ingredients are top notch (and not artificially made) and therefore it comes across in the beer.
Pumpkin Patch has huge aroma of the traditional fall spices, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg and these notes are carried through within the taste. I also love that this brew is not overly sugary; the aspect that many breweries struggle with when brewing pumpkin beers. Ina world where brewers are now trying to brew over the top flavors Rogue hits this one on the head, especially for a pumpkin beer, subtle, complex, while nailing everything that is great about pumpkins.
My suggestion is to pair this brew with roasted chicken. The roasted flavors from the bird and the subtle sweetness from the beer will complement each other perfectly.
Cheers!
