UK Architects Ask For £2 Billion To Build Life-Size 'Lord of The Rings' City

If you have a large chunk of change lying around, are a self-proclaimed nerd, and get a little too excited when Lord of the Rings plays on TBS, then you’ve met your match.
UK architects recently launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise over £2 billion so they can live out their dreams of building a life-size replica of the Lord of the Rings city.
So that’s how you spend that amount of money… ok… cool…
The guys are campaigning for 60 days to meet their goal and once finished, donators will have the chance to live or work in the creation.
The campaign’s leader, Jonathan Wilson, has estimated building costs of £15 million for land, £188 million for labor and £1.4 billion for materials. Leftover cash will then go towards “maintenance and public services.”
On the campaign page, Wilson writes,

We are an ambitious team of architects and structural engineers who are passionate about creating a beautiful, inspirational and fully-functioning replica of Peter Jackson’s depiction of Minas Tirith, as seen in his Lord of the Rings films… We all share a love of Tolkien’s work, and a desire to challenge the common perception of community and architecture. We believe that, in realising Minas Tirith, we can create not only the most remarkable tourist attraction on the planet, but also a wonderfully unique place to live and work.

So if you want to live like a hobbit, we’re here to tell you that dreams really do come true. Hooray!
