NY Jets QB Geno Smith is out for 6-10 weeks with a broken jaw after a sucker punch from defensive player IK Enemkpalis. Enemkpalis was released today following the incident. [lead image via Getty Sports/Al Bello]
This is just one day after the big fight between Cam Newton and his defensive player. Crazy before we almost never see QBs involved in the preseason arguments.

Putting your finger in the face of a 6’2″ 250 lb man is kind of a dangerous game to play, no?
Head Coach Todd Bowles had this to say after announcing the injury.

IK Enemkpalis, drafted out of Louisiana Tech, has a history of violence. He once was arrested for battery of a police officer. He then later said this about the arrest:
“I was just being a young. [It was] a young, hot-headed decision. I didn’t think about everything. If I knew what I know now, I would’ve gotten myself out of that situation. I lost my cool. That’s what it was. I didn’t know he was undercover, which is no excuse, but . . . Yeah, I lost my cool.”
Geno Smith just posted this photo to Instagram. He’s neither smiling nor grimacing because his jaw is broken.

We didn’t even have to wait until the first Jets preseason game to see a fight!
