It was a very interesting 24 hours for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Their Sunday night game against the Red Sox was rained out which was the first rainout for the team at home since 1995. The two teams played a doubleheader on Monday but not before a unique way to dry the field off from the rare rain.

There is nothing like using a police helicopter to dry the field off so two baseball games can be played. There was probably no real way to actually do it besides that. The field isn’t meant for drainage in all likelihood and the teams had to get the games in somehow. It was nice of the police to bring their helicopter over so they could use the propellers to dry the field quicker.
The next time it is going to rain in Anaheim, it may be worthwhile to just have Enrico Palazzo or somebody out there calling balls and strikes along with getting the rain to stop. Maybe some better drainage may be worth having out there just in case these days even if the police aren’t needed to dry the field again for another 20 years.
