Lauren Bajorek, A PSU Student, Died In Seville Last Weekend

Lauren Bajorek

Lauren Bajorek, a Penn State student studying abroad in Seville, Spain, died on Friday. Preliminary reports show that Lauren fell off a balcony. She had just finished an eight-week summer internship program at Alter Technology TÜV Nord.

According to Penn State Penn State Spokesman Reidar Jensen, the police and authorities in Seville are investigating the cause of death but at the moment it’s believed to have been an accident. The U.S. Embassy in Spain will release more information as the investigation continues.

Lauren was an accomplished musician who will be missed by many. A double major in Spanish and music performance, she played the French Horn in the Penn State Philharmonic Orchestra and Symphonic Band. She also found time to be heavily involved in community service, especially in regards to PSU’s #THON event.

Tragic news like this is never easy, and we urge students of Penn State who might have known Lauren to get in contact with Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) here. Furthermore, please take care of yourself and your friends whether you’re home or abroad. Thoughts and prayers to the Bajorek family.
