Elon Musk–aka The Most Realest Dude In The World–is moving forward with his Hyperloop transportation system. You may recall that two years ago Elon first introduced the idea of a high-speed transportation from LA to San Francisco using fans and magnets.
Now it seems as though he’s taking tangible steps towards making that 800 MPH “train” a reality.
Hyperloop Transportation Technologies–the independent company that has taken charge of Hyperloop development–just purchased land between SF and LA to use as a central track test site. The project will break ground in 2016 and is rumored to cost around $100 million.
Obviously we’re still a ways off from the estimated $67.6 billion project, but progress needs to start somewhere.
