Sarah Thomas has just become the first female referee in the NFL, so naturally we pulled together her best photos to show you what to expect come next season. But first, a little backstory.
The news comes via The Baltimore Sun, who reported that the Mississippi native had joined the NFL’s developmental program back in 2013. Since then, she’s taken on training camp assignments and was promoted to regular season games.
“Being raised with brothers I’m just one of the guys, I guess,” Sarah said. “I don’t try to be one of the guys. I am a female, but I don’t look at myself as just a female. I look at myself as an official. With their respect and the respect that I have for them, it just doesn’t feel like it’s a male-dominated profession.”
