With the HTC M9 on the way, the Taiwanese company is looking for ways to get in the pockets of college students and younger customers. The new free HTC “Uh-oh” service may have just done that.
Everyone who’s ever owned a phone has dropped it–whether that’s on the ground, the pool, or even into a toilet–and broken it. And unless you can deal with a spider glass screen, the cost of repairing the phone is usually upwards of $100. A recent survey shows that up to 25% of smartphone users are using a cracked screen right now.
But with the new HTC “Uh-oh” service, HTC M9 customers will now be able to replace 1 broken phone within 12 months of purchase free of charge. That damage includes cracked screens, water damage, and even switching carriers.
And if you somehow miraculously avoid dropping your phone and cracking the screen, HTC will reduce the price of the HTC M10 by $100 next year.
