Robert Downey Jr Reddit AMA

Reddit’s AMA interviews with famous dignitaries and celebrities always attract some interesting answers and revelations but so far, today’s AMA with Robert Downey Jr. should easily win the award for Reddit’s most entertaining and enlightening AMA ever. [photo: Mike Marsland/Getty]

The star of Marvel’s Avengers, the Iron Man movies and The Judge with Robert Duvall logged on to Reddit today to do an “Ask Me Anything” and he jammed it full of interesting facts and witty answers about all the awesome things that has turned him an immortal god in the eyes of Hollywood.

No topic in Reddit’s AMAs are off limits and one fan addressed some comments he made that he’s only be willing to star in another Iron Man movie if actor and director Mel Gibson got to sit in the director’s chair. Downey characterized the comments as an off-handed remark that took on a life of their own once it hit the web. He also hinted that the new roster for the next Avengers movie will be released very soon…

Downey also had an interesting take on his Oscar-nominated performance in the Ben Stiller comedy Tropic Thunder in which he played an Australian actor who immerses himself in an African-American character…

Not every question had to do with his work in the Marvel universe, even if it was the most prevalent topic in Downey’s AMA. Some fans wanted to know if another Sherlock Holmes movie would be in the works with Jude Law as Holmes’ sidekick Dr. Watson–and Downey replied while revealing his next planned franchise…

That’s a weird twist for Downey’s few fans who’ll remember Perry Mason as a television show starring Raymond Burr as a very plodding and deliberate defense attorney. But the most mind-blowing revelation came from a question about his possible involvement with the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series…

And yet the entire AMA was so cool that the weirdest moment wasn’t even an answer from Downey. Instead, it was this question…

Yeah, that’s Noel Kristi Wells–who isn’t just a Redditor. She’s also a Saturday Night Live cast member who wasn’t invited back after the season that ended earlier this year. And, of course, Robert Downey, Jr. only spent one season on SNL back in 1985. He was a cast member with his pal Anthony Michael Hall. It probably would’ve been a little awkward for Downey to answer that question, but it’s still really neat that Noel stopped by to ask. That’s news right there.
