It has been a popular trend for furniture stores to have giveaways revolving around sporting events. Another one of those giveaways have seen the Ashley Furniture in College Station, TX looking at giving over $1 million in free furniture away. The store offered free furniture to anyone who bought between Aug. 16 and Aug. 27 if Texas A&M beat South Carolina by at least 10 points. The Aggies defeated the Gamecocks 52-28 on Thursday. Thankfully, the store took out insurance on their offer, and had their best month of sales in eight years–all according to ESPN. This could be one of the smartest ones to get consumers into the store in this day and age. The idea of getting something for free even if it is a slim possibility gets people into the buying mood.
There will be more of these things going on as the year goes on. There will probably ones revolving around the Super Bowl or the World Series in the couple months. Furniture stores are getting the business they sorely need and consumers are getting a chance to buying something that they get the money back for without returning it. It’s a win-win situation.
