College graduates have plenty of reasons to be concerned as they enter the job market with all the uncertainty about whether or not they’ll actually find a job. If you’re one of those pending graduates who isn’t yet sure what they want to do, you might want to take a look at one of these majors that come with some of the highest starting salaries. TheBestFact.com looked at some of the numbers behind what some college majors could expect when they finally enter the job market and ranked those with the highest average starting salaries. Naturally, computer science topped the list with a whopping average salary of $60,000 to $100,000 per year. It shouldn’t be a surprise because computers has been incorporated into and affects just about every other college major on campus and barely anyone in those fields knows how to use one when they go kerblooey. That also explains why hand drawn calligraphy and butter churning aren’t really lucrative college majors anymore.
The second highest paying major goes to electrical engineering for many of the same reasons that computer science made the list. It also ties into almost everything we do and there’s also a noticeable shortage of engineering students in general so potential employers are trying to attract more graduates to the field with higher starting salaries. Software engineering finished third for the same reason.
If your major didn’t make the list, don’t fret. At least you can take some solace in knowing that you’re doing what you love to do, even if you’re going broke doing it in the process.
