Captain America Continues To Dominate The Box Office

A week after it broke April records, Captain America: Winter Soldier continues to run the box office. The movie grossed a whopping 41.4 million during its second weekend. The blockbuster beat out Rio 2, which made 39 million in its opening weekend.

Fox domestic distribution topper Chris Aronson blamed the weak opening for Rio on the fact that it was nice as hell all weekend. “Weather was extraordinary across the country,” Aronson told Variety, “and after a brutal winter, people flocked to outdoor activities.”

Congrats to everyone who was a part of making Captain America because all the hard work is clearly paying off. We’re sure that the movie is pretty awesome but part of us thinks that people are shelling out all that cash just to see Scarlett Johansson bouncing around on the screen…and we don’t blame you.
