"The Maze Runner" Trailer: "Hunger Games" In…Um, A Maze [VIDEO]

An adaptation of James Dashner’s dystopian adventure novel The Maze Runner is headed to a theater near you–and the first trailer hit the web earlier today.
The movie version stars Dylan O’Brien as a teen who suddenly wakes up in some kind of industrialized compound with absolutely no memory of where he’s been, what he’s doing there, or even his own identity. It turns out that he’s not the only one trapped in this elaborate concrete prison–and the only way out is through some kind of elaborate maze that mysteriously opens every day and allows anyone trapped inside of the compound a slim chance to escape.
Unfortunately, it’s one of those mazes that are filled with things that are designed to kill you in a number of inventive and creative ways. Ain’t that always the case? You never see an elaborate maze in a movie and think its dead ends are going to be occupied with clowns handing out balloons and free candy dispensers…

We’re not sure exactly what the full story is behind this action-adventure, but we’re intrigued because it’s bound to have an interesting twist and M. Night Shyamalan’s name is nowhere near it. Honestly, we’re hoping that the main character turns out to be a grownup version of Danny Torrence from The Shining. Let’s say that he’s been brought to the scene to see if the clever maze-navigating skills that saved him from his murderous father can help him beat this supposedly unbeatable maze…
