Here’s A Guinness Beer Ad That You’re Not Allowed To See [VIDEO]

Guinness Beer Ad Barnes Twins

We got excited to learn that there’s a banned Guinness Beer commercial featuring twin biathlete sisters–but that’s mostly because we got confused over the definition of “biathlete.” It still turns out to be a great ad. There’s simply one static shot of U.S. biathletes Tracy and Lanny Barnes–and we don’t want to give away their story. It’s all told in the ad below.

But you won’t be seeing this on Youtube. The ad was yanked at midnight last night. That’s because Guinness isn’t an Olympic sponsor. They’re probably holding out for the Beer Olympics. The important thing is that any company that isn’t an official Olympics sponsor can’t  air advertising featuring Olympic athletes between January 30 and February 26. Yeah. It’s kind of a Super Bowl/Big Game thing, except the brands can’t even get away with calling the Olympics something like, say, “The Big Competition.”

That’s too bad–but this commercial is really good, and deserves to be seen. We’re pretty sure that posting the video below isn’t going to get us into any trouble. But if it does, we’re saying it was all your idea, okay? You’ve got a much better chance with the courts, and we just can’t go through that again…
