New Orleans Pelicans Looking For Something Less Horrifying In A Mascot

The New Orleans Pelicans are one of the newer teams on the NBA’s roster, but they made a real impression on the fans with their mascot. The amazing Pierre the Pelican, in fact, made an impression on nearly everyone as something unleashed from their darkest nightmares. So now the team has decided that it’s time to go back to the drawing board. 

According to Bleacher Report, the team is takingscary ol’ Pierre off the court so they can design a new mascot that doesn’t teach children that the world is an awful place. The mascot is so scary-looking that it’s become something of a meme on the Internet–and when Grantland’s Zach Lowe wrote the news on his Twitter page, he actually had to clarify that the “tweet is not a joke. They are actually re-designing Pierre’s head.” In the process, Lowe confirmed that Pierre’s head actually comes right off the mascot’s misshapen body! 
This may sound like good news, but things should have never should have gotten to this point in the first place. Besides the fact that Pierre looks nothing like a pelican, the character will always be notorious for simply being a lousy excuse for a mascot design. The thing looks like the San Diego Chicken with some kind of glandular case. In fact, it’s more terrifying to hear that the people who brought us the walking nightmare that is Pierre the Pelican are working on a new mascot. Any horror movie fan can tell you that the scariest thing you’ll ever see is the scary thing you can’t see.
