Maybe it’s something in the water?
Seriously, there are few legitimate options as to why Rutgers has been so, uh, Rutgers-y lately. However this time it’s not the administration making a horribly out-of-touch-with-society decision, or stifling a charitable fraternity, or another football player punching a chick; no, THIS TIME it was a regular old freshman going straight up Michael Myers on another freshman. Halloweekend in New Brunswick at it’s finest I guess.
Daniel J. Leandry, 18, of Garfield, is accused of attacking two victims in the lobby of Mettler Hall where the trio were involved in a confrontation, said Rutgers police Chief Kenneth Cop. And yes, the Rutgers chief of police last name is actually Cop. Sooooooo Rutgers.
Leandry was found in his room there a short time later. He was charged with attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. His bail was set at $735,000 and it wasn’t known if he has retained an attorney.
One student who lives in the dorms, when describing the victim, was quoted as saying he was on the stretcher with his “guts hanging out” and that he was pleading with the EMT’s “please don’t let me die!”. Pretty heavy sh*t.
The names of the victims have yet to be released, but it is being reported they are in stable condition.
Oh, yeah, right. President Obama is scheduled to visit campus today. LOL.
Rutgers Rah Rah!
