Santa Clara University, Sophomore

Why did you choose your school and what makes it better than the rest?

Santa Clara University is located right in the heart of the Silicon Valley so I knew there would be many job and internship opportunities which was something I knew I wanted out of my college. Not only does that make our school so great, but it is relatively small which greatly adds to its appeal. Not only do you get to know so many more people, but our athletic events are always well populated and more unified since you end up befriending so many people on campus, and many of the athletes themselves!

What’s your favorite spot on campus?

Probably the mission gardens. Not only is it gorgeous and covered in flowers, but it is very peaceful and relaxing when I need to clear my head or just have a little me-time!

What kind of activities are you involved in? (sorority, theatre, clubs, etc)

-Spoon University Club
-I have a job working for the school’s athletic department
-Community Council for my dorm
-Intramural Volleyball
-Member of the a cappella group “Measure Up”
-Ruff Riders Leader: Our school’s athletic leadership team
-Her Campus event and marketing team member
-Cheeky Swimwear Brand Rep

If you had to choose one social media to use for the year, what would it be and why?

Instagram! A picture is worth a thousand words, and it’s such a great way to express yourself. Also I like using Instagram to document exciting times and things I have done in my life and looking back on all the great memories!

What’s your major/what are you thinking of majoring in?

I am majoring in Communication and working towards minoring in International Studies. I am very interested in public relations and marketing but also love to travel and want to incorporate both into my future career!

Who’s the most famous graduate from your school?

Steve Nash, he actually visited the school and got inducted into our school’s hall of fame a few weeks ago!

What do you know now that you wish you knew as a freshman?

I wish I could’ve told my freshman self to join more clubs and be a part of more organizations. As a freshman I was part of our Rowing team here at Santa Clara. Unfortunately, due to a knee injury I had to resign from the team my sophomore year. I am the kind of person that always needs to be involved in something so I joined a bunch of different clubs since then and it has been the best choice I have ever made. Not only have I met great people and made so many new friends, but I have also gained so much invaluable experience that will help me in the long run with my future career.

Do you have a favorite sports team?

Golden State Warriors! My family’s a huge fan of the team, and I am lucky enough to have been offered an internship with the Warriors during the summer of 2017, so I am very excited to be able to work for my favorite team!
