ABOUT Taniya
Georgia State University, Senior
Why did you choose your school and what makes it better than the rest?
I was born in New York but raised in Georgia. I love the Peach state, but the city is what truly attracts me. Going to a university that is located downtown in the heart of Atlanta is what makes Georgia State better than the rest. This city is more than just tall buildings and burning high ways (hehe). It’s a place that is surrounded by an endless supply of diversity, amazing food, great networking opportunities, and of course good vibes only.
What kind of activities are you involved in? (sorority, theatre, clubs, etc)
I am a member of the Alpha Xi Delta fraternity, which is part of the Panhellenic Council. When I am not in class or have if I have free time, I love cruising down the streets of Atlanta on my Penny Longboard. Yeah you can ride a car or a bike, but long boarding gives you a whole different experience. The Atlanta streets are beautiful during the day, but are even more breathtaking at night. There’s nothing quite like it.
What’s your major/what are you thinking of majoring in?
I am a Business Managerial Science major. Fortunately, Georgia State University has one of the best business school programs. Hopefully I will have to opportunity to attend their program when I graduate.
What do you know now that you wish you knew as a freshman?
Be yourself and express who you really are. Being nervous and shy is inevitable as a freshman, but just remember that every other freshman out there is feeling the same way you are. College goes by in a blink of an eye, so live every moment to the fullest and take advantage of all the given opportunities.
