ABOUT Sara
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Senior
I love my college because…
I wanted to join a school that had outstanding academics and also offered endless opportunities for leadership. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is better than the rest because of the pride we take in our school. The university has an amazing alumni base and is also highly accredited compared to other schools.
I really hate…
lateness.
I major in…
Psychology with a Leadership Studies minor. I plan to concentrate in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and use that to work in Human Resources. Using my leadership minor, I plan to be the head of an organization one day with my leadership skills.
My hometown is awesome because…
I know everyone. I come from a smaller town in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, and although the town has two high schools, everyone knew each other. With that in mind, it was easy to make connections and lasting friendships. The best part about going home is knowing that everyone supports you and what you’re doing in life.
At school, you can find me…
in Illini Pride, which is the largest student-run organization on campus in which I hold the Communications Chair. I am also a photographer on campus and work as a social media intern in multiple places. I am on the HerCampus team as a blogger and social media intern. I also blog for the college of Liberal Arts and Sciences on campus as well as taking part as a PINK team member through Victoria’s Secret on campus. I am also in Psi Chi, which is a psychology honors club, and I am in Phi Mu Sorority.
The coolest class I’ve taken so far is…
Personnel Psychology. I really enjoy learning about Human Resources and how you can best fit someone for their ‘perfect’ or ideal job.
My ideal first date would be…
going out to one of my favorite nature parks and taking a long walk while getting to know each other more.
My favorite late night study snack is…
fruit snacks!
If I had 24 hours left to live, I would…
spend them with friends and family. I would cherish every moment I had with the people I love because in life, that’s all that matters.
If I could change one thing about the world, it would be…
stopping or putting an end to all of the hate, violence and crime people face daily.
If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, I would say…
to take in every moment like it was your last because it goes so quickly. High school is some of the best times in your life before life takes a toll and gets a little tougher.
I’m going to be Miss COED 2017 because…
it is an amazing opportunity to showcase to people who I am. I am the type of person that has always looked after others and been that friend and this is something that I am doing for myself and because I deserve to do something for myself. I also want to be Miss COED 2017 because I am highly involved on campus and cannot think of an organization that I have not yet been apart of within the last couple years of being an Illini. This would be the cherry on the top for my senior year.
